Swimsuits for Every Body
The good news: We are all uniquely beautiful—we come in different shapes and sizes and that’s something worth celebrating!
The bad news: Despite this good news, swimsuit season still makes you want to run for cover (preferably under a large, figure-concealing muumuu!).
The good news (again): Fashion Club understands the need to be comfortable in your own skin (hey, we’ve all been there) so we spoke with FIDM Fashion Design grad and Swimsuit Designer Amanda Stratt to put together some tips and tricks to help you find the perfect swimsuit for your body.
Figure Fixes
Be beautiful and confident in your swimsuit with these helpful hints to flatter your figure:
Knowledge is Power
Things you should know when shopping for a swimsuit:
- You probably won’t wear the size you may think, no matter what your body type. “Swimwear is sized differently than sportswear,” warns Amanda. “You are typically one size larger in swimwear than you are in sportswear.?
- Give your suit a little test drive before buying. “Once you have the suit on in the dressing room, make sure to move around in it to make sure it fits,” Amanda suggests.
- Mix and match your bathing suit for a custom fit. “Finding a line of suits that offers separates is great because you can buy a top and a bottom of different sizes,” says Amanda. “Or you can buy two tops and one bottom and have two different looks—more for your money!”
How did swimwear designer Amanda Stratt become an industry expert? It all started with a Fashion Design degree from FIDM!
